Erasmus Mundus scholarships

The Erasmus Mundus funding programme ended with the 2013 intake, so the below information about Erasmus Mundus scholarship amounts and regulations only apply to current students in the JEMES CiSu programme.

Students commencing their studies in 2014 and onwards will be part of the Erasmus+ funding programme for Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees (read more about the new Erasmus Mundus scholarship amounts and regulations here).

Erasmus Mundus scholarships Category A students

Very well qualified students, who are not residents of the EU-Member States, the EEA-EFTA states and the candidate countries for accession to the EU, and who have not carried out their main activities (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the above countries may apply for an Erasmus Mundus Category A scholarship. The Erasmus Mundus Category A scholarship amounts to EUR 48,000. It covers a monthly allowance for living costs, a contribution to travel and installations costs and a contribution to participation costs for participation in the JEMES CiSu programme.

• a fixed amount of EUR 8,000 as a contribution to travel and installations and any other costs to be paid in two instalments of EUR 4,000 per year.
• a contribution to participation costs to the JEMES CiSu programme of EUR 4,000 per semester.
• a monthly allowance covering living costs of EUR 1,000 for the duration of the programme.

Erasmus Mundus scholarships Category B students

Very well qualified students, who are residents of the EU Member States, the EEA-EFTA states and the candidate countries for accession to the EU and who do not fulfil the Category A criteria defined above (i.e. have carried out their main activities (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the above countries) may apply for an Erasmus Mundus Category B scholarship. The Erasmus Mundus Category B scholarship amounts to EUR 23,000. It covers a monthly allowance for living costs and a contribution to participation costs for participation in the JEMES CiSu programme

• a fixed amount of EUR 3,000 as a contribution to travel and installations and any other costs to be paid in two instalments of EUR 1,500 per year.
• a contribution to participation costs to the JEMES CiSu programme of EUR 2,000 per semester.
• a monthly allowance covering living costs of EUR 500 for the duration of the programme.

Other funding schemes may be available via your university, ministries in your home country et al.

Please note that the amounts are the maximum contributions to students (i.e. 24 months). The payment of the scholarships finishes with the graduation of the student. This covers also the cases where a student graduates before the real duration of the course.
